I thought I would share with you another project I am working on that you may find interesting.
I have completed version 1.0 of my news media sentiment analysis model. In its current version, It pulls over 400 separate news stories a day, it then performs sentiment analysis using the hybrid model I created several months ago. It then records the data for each day with the goal to track it for several months. Whenever there is a world event, it will be interesting to see how it changes.
The one thing I do see as plain as day is that the emotion of fear is very strong in the news articles I have assessed so far, This I would say is not good from a mental health perspective and general well-being perspective. Why am I doing this? Honestly, I thought it would be interesting to see how the news makes out when assessed in this way. Perhaps I will package this up and suggest to our government that the media has a responsibility to inform about the news but should leave the fear-mongering and theatre out of it.
